Progress towards Parish Council's 3rd Web Site
Extracts from PC Minutes of meetings
12 May 2020
The Chairman thanked Cllr McCarthy and the Clerk for all the information and quotations they had obtained from five website providers which he had considered in detail. He was very concerned that this will be the second website in two years. Confirmation is held from two sources that the existing website cannot be changed to comply with the Regulations due to the format that was used. Cllr Moor proposed that further information is requested from four of the website providers and a decision is deferred until a further confidential meeting is held on 26th May 2020.
26 May 2020 – Part 2 meeting but then agreed to be open!
An investigation of the existing website confirmed it could not be amended to comply with the Regulations because the format used could not be altered. A Working Party formed of Cllrs. McCarthy, Cerio, & Cook and the Clerk. Proposed by Cllr Cook and seconded by Cllr Bean and unanimously resolved that the quotation from Parish Council Websites of £649 plus VAT to provide a new website and annual hosting support of £228 plus VAT was accepted. In order to proceed with the work it would be necessary to pay a deposit. Proposed by Cllr Cerio and seconded by Cllr Bean and unanimously resolved to pay the (30%) deposit of £194.70 plus VAT
14 July 2020
Discussions had continued with the firm regarding the content of the new website and a reduction in the cost to £469 plus VAT had been achieved. In achieving this reduction some residual amendments may need to be made to the content of the website. The firm had sent us 12 examples of their website designs at the beginning of July.
8 September 2020
The order has been placed with Parish Council Websites and the reduced deposit of £168.84 (inc. of VAT) had been paid. A website design had been selected by councillors from 12 designs provided. The firm has recently sent a working draft of the proposed new website
10 November 2020
Revised website design had been received from Parish Council Websites. Amendments had been suggested but pressure of other work (by Clerk!) has delayed these being advised to the designers. A date when it will be in use is not known.
12 January 2021
The Clerk reported that the suggested amendments had been sent to the website providers. They had requested some extra photographs before sending the revised design for approval. A date is not known when it will be in use.
SUMMARY
Agreed to pay £649 + VAT = £778.80
Revised price agreed £469 + VAT = £562.80
Annual hosting support = £228 + VAT = £273.60 (for what?)
As of today, 14 August 2023, the new web site they proposed does not exist.
The reduced price? They simply went for the Basic Package option rather than Complete Package; see here Pricing - Parish Council Websites
