Dunchideock Bridge Notice Board (Damaged again) and something hit the Post Box
Some idiot drove their equipment into the noticeboard, ripping off the catch and frame and also smashed into the side of the post box, denting the side, ripping it off the front and also pushing it over. I noticed this first on 16 October.
A new catch was (20 Oct) been screwed on - the most incompetent fitting I've seen for a long time. Wrong screws, loose fitting and totally miss-aligned. Who on earth is the inept DIY-er I wonder? |
Searching in the nettles, I today found the original brass fittings and the chunk of door that was ripped off. It could easily be glued/nailed back in place except this is far above the skill capability of the DIY expert they use (see above).
Dunchideock Bridge Notice Board - Glass Smashed
The glass on this was shattered on Friday 12 July. It took the Parish Council 8, yes 8, weeks, to repair this village asset. Not only that, but they left all the big screws they used sticking out of the side really dangerously. Only when I complained was this remedied. What an incompetent way to run things. In my time as Chairman, I'd have done it myself in three days!
The PC had 2 meetings (16/7 & 13/8) since this damage occurred to a parish owned asset, yet, amazingly, there was no mention of either the damage or the proposal to repair it! This is total neglect by the PC and disconcerting lack of guidance by the paid clerk.

See picture below of a tent wall covering in place for some weeks! Myself and Lawrence refurbished this board, as we did for the other two (Belvedere and Underdown) a few years ago. So this damage is disappointing. In days of old, I'd have fitted a new sheet of safety glass in three days but the Dunchideock Parish Council deal with this in their own way.
